artist

Tauba Auerbach lebt und arbeitet in New York City.

Features and remarks

Here you have the opportunity to purchase a pop-up artist's book by Tauba Auerbach from 2011.

Auerbach celebrates the transition from the 2nd to the 3rd dimension in space with the oversized pop-up book [2,3].

Six sculptures created from punched and differently connected pieces of paper unfold into artistic geometric bodies.

Each firmly bound "page" designed by the artist can be unfolded into a beautifully constructed object. The works, which are up to 45 centimetres high, can then be folded completely flat again.

„[2,3] is the mathematical term for the closed interval between two and three. Each of these ojects animates the transition between two and three dimensions.“

The art object published by Auerbach together with the renowned publisher Printed Matter Inc. from New York can be interpreted partly as a book and partly as a sculpture. The edition was limited to 1000 + 100 copies. Each of the 6 volumes measures 51.5 x 82.0 centimetres when unfolded and is variable in height.

View during unfolding

All six volumes of the portfolio are safely stored in the original linen slipcase. The card with the artist's signature is in a pocket inside.

The multi-award-winning artist's extensive oeuvre is currently on display at her first solo exhibition in Germany - in Kassel until the beginning of 2024.
