Unique work of object art by Davood Roostaei!

Rare collector's item - Painting on luxury Jaguar car

The first art car was probably designed by the avant-garde artist Sonia Delaunay-Terk in 1925 - she painted over a Citroën B12 in the colorful, geometric pattern of her fabric designs. More recently, BMW Art Cars, for example, have inspired car and art enthusiasts alike - since 1975, over 20 models have been individually designed by artists. But a Jaguar as an art object is a rarity!

The car dealer Helmut Becker, owner of one of Europe's largest car dealerships in Düsseldorf at the time, commissioned the artist Davood Roostaei to design a Jaguar XJ6 for the 1998 Essen Motor Show.

The renowned Iranian-born painter was still living in the Rhineland at the time and had been making a name for himself in the USA since 2000. With his special painting style, applying the paint directly with his fingers without a brush, Roostaei created a work of art on four wheels that illustrates the history of German reunification.

All parts of the bodywork are painted all around: we discover symbols of peace and happiness everywhere on brightly coloured surfaces full of sparkling lights and partially three-dimensionally modelled paint.

A Christmas tree shines at the front as a powerful symbol of a sacred and blessed time with the family. On the reverse, the Brandenburg Gate symbolises the capital city of Berlin and the division of Germany that has been overcome. Next to it are doves of peace, the Berlin Liberty Bell and a large blooming sunflower on the roof of the car.

„My pictures speak for themselves, my language is a language for all people. With my bare hands, like a cave painter, I want to capture feelings and sensations directly on the canvas. My pictures feel something of the sensual and spiritual energies that are released when I paint. The colours pour out of my hands like glowing lava, so that the structure resembles a new volcanic mountain range.“

The car was auctioned off at a charity gala in 1999 in favour of a charitable cause and subsequently found its way into various car and art collections. The vehicle was stored safely and dryly for many years and was only shown at individual exhibitions. The painting is therefore still in very good condition.

At the buyer's request, we are also happy to organise the professional transfer of the car, which is no longer roadworthy, to its future destination.

There are no limits to the future presentation of the artwork - even a hanging presentation on a wall is conceivable and is shown as an example in our size comparison!
