Features and remarks

Here you have the opportunity to acquire an original painting by Eric Decastro.

The mixed media created in 2019 focuses on the core element of modern painting - the materiality of colour. On a black background, Decastro creates a small colour galaxy with three "suns".

In the centre, the blackness opens up and gives you a view of a dark, shiny line of colour that mixes with white. Everything seems to be in flux - the blue flows through the white-blue land mass like small, meandering river deltas.

Three golden dots of colour, also marked by furrows and impasto colour reliefs, encircle the blue centre. The noble shine of the gold illuminates the surface in a particularly attractive way.

By using highly pigmented lacquer colours on a black background, the luminosity of the work is impressive. The picture is already mounted ready to hang in a silver metal frame. Ready for your wall!

„Looking at Decastro's oeuvre as a whole, it can be said that it oscillates between maximalism and minimalism, between action and contemplation. [...] The artist's experimental dynamism seems insatiable, and the same applies to the energy that flows so conspicuously in his works. Dance, spirituality and painting unite here in a remarkable symbiosis.“

David Galloway (2011)
