Article of Schubert, Simon
Simon Schubert was born in Cologne in 1976.
Schubert studied Fine Art and Sculpture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1997 to 2004. He was a master student of Irmin Kamp and an assistant to Paul Good.
Schubert’s paper works are created through a complex process of folding and creasing, giving the large sheets of paper a sculptural quality and three-dimensionality.
The artist received the City of Cologne’s Art Sponsorship Award in 2004 and the ZVAB-Phönix Art Prize in 2007. He lives and works in Cologne.
