Elke Nebel was born in 1975 in Kleve. Nebel studied from 1997 to 2002 at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Jörg Immendorff. In 2004, she received the Dusseldorf Prize for Fine Arts. From 2009 to 2011 she was a lecturer at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and in 2012 she completed a visiting professorship at the Kunstakademie Münster.

Die Original-Malerei von Elke Nebel entstand 2017 und ist bereits hängefertig gerahmt. Nebel bearbeitet in ihrer Kunst oft Phänomene des Unendlichen und zyklischer Wiederholung.
Hier arbeitet sie figürlich und zeigt uns den Ausschnitt einer Figur, die auf der linken Seite aus dem Bild verschwindet.
Da und nicht da zugleich - um welche Art Wesen handelt es sich hier wohl auf dem wundervoll in Schwarz lavierten Hintergrund. Eine Vierbeiner oder ein sich ins Nichts stürzender Mensch?
Da wir die Begrenzung der Figur nicht sehen, besteht die Möglichkeit, dass sie sich in unserer Vorstellung bis ins Unendliche fortsetzt - so wie die Parallelen in der Mathematik.
