Jörg Immendorff wurde 1945 im lüneburgischen Bleckede geboren. In den 60iger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts besuchte Immendorff die Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie und war Schüler von Teo Otto und Joseph Beuys. Mit seinen typischen Motiven hat sich Immendorff als Zeichner, Lithograf, Maler und Plastiker ab den 90iger Jahren auch international einen Namen gemacht. Seine Werke wurden unter anderem in Ausstellungen in Düsseldorf, Berlin, Köln, Frankfurt, Zürich, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Den Haag, Wien, Rotterdam, Rom, Osaka,Tokio, New York, Los Angeles, Mexiko City und Peking gezeigt. Allein 1995, waren seine Kunstwerke in 425 Ausstellungen zu sehen. Ab 1996 war er Professor an der Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. Immendorff erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen darunter 1998 den Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und 2006 den Bambi für Kunst. Jörg Immendorff ist einer der international angesehensten deutschen Künstler der Gegenwart. Der Affe ist die zentrale Symbolfigur Immendorffs, der man in seinen Werken immer wieder begegnet. Für den Künstler ist er Maske des Ideals künstlerischer Genialität, aber auch Symbol der animalischen Triebhaftigkeit im Menschen. 2007 verstarb Jörg Immendorff an einer tödlichen Nervenkrankheit in Düsseldorf. Here you have the opportunity to acquire an original sculpture by Jörg Immendorff.
The large-format bronze can be regarded as the artist's last sculptural project. Based on a smaller design of the painter bee, which the artist created in 1994 for the set of Igor Stravinsky's opera "A Rake's Progress", Immendorff authorised the edition produced in 2006 in small numbers and various sizes.

This is one of probably only 20 examples of the almost human-sized, medium format with a height of over 1.5 metres. Only 26 casts were produced in total. On the occasion of the 2008 Olympic Games in China, the art objects were to be exhibited there and then end up in the hands of collectors - hence the title "China-Imme".
The sweeping bee symbolises diligence, which can be attributed to the Chinese as well as the busy artist. It also became one of his recurring trademarks in the early 1990s - the bee is also known poetically as "Imme".
The sculpture, weighing approx. 220 kg, is currently still on display in the outdoor area of a collection in Hesse. Collection will be made in person on site or can be arranged by us at the buyer's expense.
