Michael Goller was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz, in 1974. Goller developed a gestural, direct painting, which is supplemented by schematic views. The lyrical compositions are of partially simultaneously intense and have a balanced color scheme. In some contexts, Goller uses his own font, that looks like runes. "Optical swing in the resonant frequency of the tableau" is an access to his paintings. It takes him up to a year to work on individual paintings. Goller "let the painting clot in time," which means not a contradiction of intuitive gestures. 2003, Michael Goller was co-founder of the artist group Querschlag and, together with Peter Piek, of the artist initiative Malfront (2003-2007). After individual and group exhibitions in Germany and Europe, he has already gained considerable recognition. Es gibt Elemente in der Malerei Gollers, die zyklisch wiederkehren und die ihn nicht mehr loslassen: Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Farbspektrum, das Arbeiten in mehreren Ebenen oder das Wechselspiel von Gestus, Form und Zeichen in der Fläche. Dazu kommen episodische Elemente, die sie aus der Erforschung eines bestimmten Themenkreises oder aus den Wechselspiel persönlichen Erlebens speisen.
Das fertige Werk ist dem Maler somit immer auch ein Zeugnis und Archiv seines gegenwärtigen Interesses und seiner Lage. In der Gesamtschau ist es nie statisch, es entwickelt sich von einem Punkt erster Neugier und Konfrontation, wird in der täglichen Übung verfeinert und schließlich gekonnt und gemeistert.
Im vorliegenden Gemälde nimmt Goller direkten Bezug auf die Werke der Ausstellung "FLOWERING BLACK" von 2020. Im Rückgang auf zurückliegende Arbeiten, teils indem er diese auch übermalt und vollendet, sehen wir nun Farbstrukturen auf der Leinwand entstehen, die allein schon durch ihre Kleinteiligkeit, ihre rhythmisch-minimalistische Komposition und ihre minutiöse Ausführung darauf verweisen, wie Gollers Malpraxis beschaffen ist: Konzentriert - Meditativ - Explorativ.
